Mitsubishi Electric - Maximum performance and safety with the EtherCAT servo


Modern production processes require increasingly precise and powerful drive solutions. Servo drives must be fully integrated into industrial networks to ensure maximum speed, accuracy, safety and efficiency.


Mitsubishi Electric offers the perfect solution: the MELSERVO MR-J5 servo drives, which are ideal for use in combination with EtherCAT controllers and Failsafe over EtherCAT (FSoE).


High performance

The powerful, fast and precise MR-J5 servo system is characterised by a high frequency response of up to 3.5 kHz, enabling automatic vibration suppression. It also supports online autotuning for perfect parameter setting.


Compact design

The compact design of both the amplifiers and the motors ensures that little installation space is required. In addition, the single-cable technology of the servo motors helps to reduce the number of cables. With the use of MR-J5 multi-axis amplifiers, multiple axes can be integrated into a single amplifier.


Functional safety & Failsafe over EtherCAT FSoE

All common safety functions such as STO, SS1, SBC, SSM, SLS, SS2 and SOS are integrated as standard. The EtherCAT servo systems also support these functions via the EtherCAT network (Failsafe over EtherCAT FSoE). At no extra cost.


Energy efficient

The modular servo amplifiers are equipped with regenerative energy feedback to the grid, so that braking energy is not converted into heat but is efficiently fed back into the system. This increases energy efficiency and reduces heat generation.


Easy maintenance

The amplifiers are equipped with AI-controlled predictive maintenance functions that monitor the mechanical components, among other things. The 26-bit encoder operates without batteries, which contributes to lower maintenance costs.
